Art Basel Parcours 2026 Edi Rama. June 15 – 21, 2026

Edi Rama’s work consists of an improvisational dialogue between political life and creative practice. His drawings are produced during and between meetings in his role as Albania’s Prime Minister. Rama treats drawing as a stream-of-consciousness process that steadies thought and allows subconscious gestures to surface within the rigid structures of governance. These vivid compositions are marked by bright color, fluid lines, and biomorphic forms. He often makes his drawings and doodles on official government papers, calendars, and printed-out emails.

For Parcours, Rama presents a new, large-scale bronze sculpture created after drawings made at the Kryeministria. The process moves from hand-drawn lines to 3D printing, manual reworking, and bronze casting, transforming ephemeral sketches into a durable, 'social' structure. Rising over two meters, the biomorphic, mushroom-like form creates an open meeting point that expands private imagination into public space. Installed alongside a presentation of drawings at the nearby restaurant Du Pont, the project reveals the gestural origins of the sculpture, tracing the movement from solitary thought to collective experience in public space.
